ex Graeco θηριακὴ, antidotum contra venena, quod ex viperae carne fieret, quae per excellentiam θηρίον dicta, nomen accepit, Gerh. Ioh. Voss. de Idolol. l. 4. c. 62. Cur vero non caro cerastae, quod serpentis genus viperae admodum simile, aspidis aliusve serpentis, eam ingrediatur, Galenum vide disquirentem l. de Theriaca, c. 8. qui Andromachi eam, Neronis Archiatri, inventum alibi facit. Scripsit autem hic Theriacam carmine elegantissimô. Nempe Andromachus hic, antidoto Mithridaticae admiscuit non exiguam partem carnium viperae: quô factum, ut haec antidotus andromachi prope antiquaverit Mithridaticum, Theriacae Andromachi, et aliquando Theriacae absolute, nomine insignis. sed et iam ante Mithridatem Nicander Colophonius Theriaca et Alexipharmaca scripsit.
